The board of CareerSource Brevard on Thursday selected Marci Murphy, currently vice president of operations, to replace Lisa Rice as the organization’s president.

Board members authorized board chairman, Robert Jordan, to negotiate with Murphy a salary and benefits package that does not exceed $120,000 in base pay. Murphy also was named interim president until those negotiations are complete and the full board meets again to approve the package.

“I believe we have the right candidate,” said William Chivers, president of RUSH Construction in Titusville and a CareerSource Brevard board member who served on the search committee to look for Rice’s replacement. “She has what it takes.”

Rice announced her resignation on June 1 after serving about 15 years as the head of CareerSource Brevard. She will be executive vice president for development for a company called Dynamic Workforce Solutions, a workforce training, consulting, management and administrative services organization that has a contract with CareerSource Brevard.

Murphy is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University where she received a bachelor’s degree in business. She joined CareerSource Brevard in 2002 and her duties as vice president include supervising staff in planning, monitoring grant programs and initiatives, managing contracts, providing technical direction and performance oversight of the One-Stop Operator contract, and long-range planning.
