Certified Production Technician Class Hopes to Graduate 33 students Eager to Enter Manufacturing Jobs in December

The AIM Sector Strategy Marketing Perceptions Committee merged with the Economic Development Commission of the Space Coast (EDC) as we identified common initiatives in growing the talent pipeline in Brevard.  We have forged a strong alliance in an effort to educate manufacturing partners to the economic advantages of promoting the adoption of national certifications in the county for manufacturing jobs.  Our goal is to build a career pathway for career seekers and a talent pipeline for industry.

CareerSource Brevard AIM Sector Strategy Program Manager is currently working with the EDC, Manufacturing Association of the Space Coast (MASC), Community Pastors Alliance Brevard County Adult Educating and Eastern Florida State College to provide reduced tuition fees and scholarships for Certified Production Technical certification.  This 12 week hybrid course, offers a national certification from MSSC and builds a solid foundation for entry level manufacturing jobs.  Students are assessed and certified in four critical sectors of manufacturing: Safety, Quality Practices and Measurements, Manufacturing Processes & Production and Maintenance Awareness which also provides 16 credits toward an Engineering Technology Associates degree at EFSC should the students continue their education.

The CPT classes are available to career seekers as well as employed workers who are trying to advance in their careers by acquiring industry certifications.  Currently 33 students are enrolled in the fall semester, completing the course on December 1, 2016 and will interested to securing jobs in the industry.   You may contact CareerSource Brevard to post open positions.  Many students are eligible for on-the-job training (OJT) funding to employers to offset the costs of new hire training for up to six months.
