Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program logoEmployment and Training (E&T) Requirements

Florida’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), often referred to as Food Stamps, requires that all Able-Bodied Adults without Dependents (ABAWDS), ages 18-59 (as of November 20, 2023), must participate in the SNAP Employment & Training (E&T) program. The goal of the SNAP E&T program is to help unemployed recipients of food assistance benefits gain skills, training, and work experience. CareerSource Brevard oversees the SNAP E&T program in Brevard County in partnership with FloridaCommerce. Learn more about SNAP Work Requirements.

As of June 1, 2021, all SNAP ABAWDs and TCA applicants who apply for benefits and are determined eligible or who complete the recertification process beginning in the month of June, will receive notification of the mandatory work requirements. This notification will include the appropriate steps required for benefit recipients to take in order to meet work requirements and sustain benefit assistance. New recipients as of June 1 must comply with the same process that existed prior to the public health emergency, including completing an on-line orientation and assessment, meeting with a case worker and engaging in work activities, including job search, training, and community work experience.

Once you have been referred to the SNAP E&T program, you must complete the following steps to maintain eligibility for food stamp assistance. The information provided below is your guide through the process, which includes orientation, an assessment, and scheduling for an Employment & Training Orientation and Intake Session with CareerSource Brevard.

Each of these three steps contains time-sensitive deadlines that, if not met, may affect the continuance of your Food Assistance benefit.  It is important that you read the requirements carefully.
