Brevard Aerospace and Other Workers Affected By Layoffs Get Opportunity For New Career In Growing IT Field

BREVARD WORKFORCE sponsors 10-week no-cost course, paid internships. Apply by August 3, 2012.

Former NASA contractor employees and others–who have been laid off or have received a notice of lay off in Brevard County–and who have a knack for IT may be eligible to participate in a no-cost program that can give them a quick, clear foundation for new, stable careers in the burgeoning IT economy.

Brevard Workforce is using state and federal grants for this second offering of the Drupal Career Starter Program™, which focuses on Drupal, an open source content management system with wide-scale adoption globally. Twenty (20) no-cost slots are available to eligible applicants for the 10 week course beginning August 21 in Cocoa Village.

Applications, anelloconsulting.com/dcsp, will be accepted until August 3, 2012.

The 70-hour course, developed and presented by Cocoa-based DrupalEasy, takes place two nights per week at the Cocoa Civic Center, after which eligible participants will enjoy paid internships with companies and organizations to hone the practical application of their newly developed skills. Michael Anello, a leader in the Florida Drupal Community, will lead the program, which includes technical training as well as guidance into participating in the worldwide Drupal Community.
