Brevard Workforce is Invited to a White House Forum in Washington DC
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda L. Solis and the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships has invited key leaders at Brevard Workforce to a White House Forum in Washington, DC on Thursday, September 20, 2012.
The Forum agenda will include panels that will discuss job club models and partnerships; and speakers from the White House and Department of Labor. Lisa Rice, president of Brevard Workforce and Joyce Young, community resource specialist from the Brevard Workforce Faith in the Future program, will join job club and ministry leaders, faith and community leaders, workforce development officials, nonprofit leaders and others from across the country who assist job seekers and workers.
“Brevard Workforce’s Faith in the Future Program has been key in helping members of our community transition both physically and emotionally to employment within this challenging economy,” stated Rice. “We are honored to represent Brevard County in Washington.”
Faith in the Future is a faith-based job club organization where churches partner with Brevard Workforce in an effort to encourage networking and support for members of our community, including individuals and businesses dealing with current economic stresses. Support includes education and techniques on resume writing, job search strategies and interviewing skills to name a few.
Washington recognizes the role of job clubs and career ministries in getting Americans back to work and Brevard Workforce is on the front lines of helping this effort.
“We are excited to learn about efforts at the national level and look forward to networking with other leaders in our country,” stated Rice.
