Brevard Workforce – Rockledge Offering Workshops During November 2011


ROCKLEDGE, Florida – Brevard Workforce in Rockledge, located at 295 Barnes Boulevard, will hold employment workshops in November 2011 to assist Brevard County job seekers. Participants must be at least 17 years of age or older, and should be registered with Employ Florida (www.employflorida.com). Each of the workshops was designed to target specific employment needs and offer solutions to job seekers looking for assistance. Please note that participants must arrive on time as no admittance will be allowed once the session begins. There is no cost to attend the workshops.   • Aerospace Workforce Transition (AWT) Orientation

Dates: Mondays

Times: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Description: Dislocated Aerospace workers can access AWT program services to help obtain new employment. Participants will learn about grant-funded resources, including Adult Work Experience, On-The-Job Training, Scholarship assistance, and how to enroll for services. Participants must have a full registration on www.launchnewcareers.com and on employflorida.com that includes a completed background, resume, and self-assessments. In addition, participants must bring a Driver’s License, Social Security Card, documentation of layoff, a DD124 (Veterans), and completed enrollment forms (click here to down load and print forms).   • Career Transition Workshop
    Dates: Mondays
    Times: 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
    Description: Finding yourself unemployed is one of the most frightening situations you can find yourself in.  It can leave you paralyzed as to what to do next.  This workshop helps you understand the feelings you are experiencing and offers some tips & techniques to help you move towards a new career.  In this workshop, you will learn techniques for stress management; how to take stock of your finances to ride out the storm; and tips on using your community resources in your job search campaign. Dates: Wednesdays

Times:  9:30-11:30 a.m.

Description: Ever wonder what it would be like to start your own business? Do you have a great business idea and need some help before you are ready to launch? BizLaunch is a weekly networking, support and skill building group for those with an entrepreneurial spirit. Whether you are still in the exploration stage, are ready to launch or have already launched your own business, BizLaunch will put you in touch with like-minded individuals where you can share,  discuss and explore solutions in real-time.  Weekly topical presentations and workshops facilitated by business professionals and successful entrepreneurs will provide you with the tools you will need to go from business idea to launch.   • Resume Writing – Part 1
    Dates: Wednesdays
    Times: 1:30  – 4:30 p.m.
    Description: Workshop participants will learn how to: evaluate their skills in order to provide career direction, critique and develop a value-based resume that speaks to the job description and the employer, utilize Optimal Resume and other resume templates for resume development and provide portfolios complete with Professional References and Case Studies.   • Career Development & Training Workshop

Description: Learn more about education and training opportunities which may be available through Brevard Workforce.  Admission to this workshop requires a complete registration in Employ Florida (www.employflorida.com) which includes Personal, Background, Skills, Interest Assessment, and Resume Sections as well as a completed “Training Guidance Worksheet” which can be obtained at any Brevard Workforce site.  Pre-registration is required.   • Resume Writing – Part 2
    Dates: Fridays
    Times: 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
    Description: Resume Writing Part 2 is set to work one-on-one with Staff members to review your current resume and develop a value-based resume to better market your skills to the employers to land that interview. Maximum class size 24.
