CareerSource Brevard is now accepting applications for final round of Startup Quest

Application Deadline is April 7, 2015

Rockledge, Florida – CareerSource Brevard (CSB) is now accepting applications to participate in the next round of the Startup Quest® entrepreneurial training program. Startup Quest® is a 10-week, hands-on experiential entrepreneurship training program that increases participants’ abilities to pursue their own ideas for self-employment through a challenging mentor-based methodology that teaches advanced entrepreneurship. The program focuses on the processes and steps required for a hypothetical business startup to transform an innovation into a product for the marketplace. Application deadline is April 7, 2015.

Applications for the program can be downloaded at: startupquest.org/careersourcebrevard.  Interested individuals must attend the mandatory introductory workshop from 1:00 p.m to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Space Coast Convention Center at Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa, 301 Tucker Lane Cocoa, FL 32926.  Registration for this event is required at startupquestbrevard3.eventbrite.com.  Classes begin on April 28.

“With over three people competing for every open job, Startup Quest® advances a more effective model of workforce development by growing self-employment through entrepreneurship training, shifting the mindset from finding a job to creating your own job,” said Erica Lemp, Regional Program Manager.”Startup Quest® pairs technological innovations developed at Florida’s public universities and NASA with highly successful entrepreneur mentors who help qualified professional participants learn how new inventions and technologies are brought to market.”

Startup Quest® is funded by a $12 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor and includes eight workforce investment regions in Florida. Participants must have a college degree and be either unemployed or underemployed at the time of program registration.  Startup Quest® requires all applicants to go through a third party random selection process for acceptance into the program.

The goal of the program is to provide Startup Quest® graduates with the skills needed to launch their own companies, or to apply what they’ve learned in the program at new jobs with established businesses. Other participants use the Startup Quest® experience to expand their own existing companies.

Interested individuals can contact Erica Lemp, [email protected], or visit www.startupquest.org/careersourcebrevard for program dates and additional information.
