New Career Center Serves Hundreds Daily: Job Seekers, Former Aerospace Workers and Employers Benefit

Brevard County, FLORIDA – Brevard Workforce, the area authority on workforce development, officially acknowledged the opening of its career center in Rockledge with a Grand Opening event Friday, November 18.

More than 100 people attended the event, which was sponsored by Architects in Association Rood, Zwick & Kerr, Rush Construction, and Parrish Medical Center

Hundreds of employers, job seekers and former aerospace workers visit the Rockledge Career Career daily. Services include career counseling, résumé assistance, recruitment services, monthly workshops for job seekers, and much more all at no cost.

Several local business leaders and elected officials attended, including Kennedy Space Center Director Bob Cabana, who also spoke at the event and praised KSC’s longstanding partnership with Brevard Workforce that has resulted in helping more than 6,000 former aerospace workers with career transition.

Brevard Workforce President Lisa Rice addressed the guests by stressing the business-focused mission of Brevard Workforce. Ms. Rice said by focusing on businesses’ needs, Brevard Workforce can quickly and efficiently place more people in more jobs.

Brevard Workforce Board of Directors Chairman Jack Rood also spoke at the event, crediting much of the Workforce’s successes to the leadership of Ms. Rice and the workforce team and reinforcing the value of Brevard Workforce’s services and urging businesses to take advantage of them.

Other speakers included Gena Argila from EFM, Inc., and Allan Riggs from Infratech. Both employer-customers successfully utilized Brevard Workforce’s services to find new employees and shared their experiences with attendees.

Inspiration came in the form of two former aerospace professionals, Joe Hill and Johnny Curry, whose testimonies praised the benefits of Brevard Workforce’s recent entrepreneurial initiatives: Entrepreneurial Work Experience and BizLaunch.

The Rockledge career center opened its doors to the public on June 23, 2011. At roughly 21,000 square feet, the Rockledge career center is the largest of Brevard Workforce’s three career centers, which are also located in Titusville and Palm Bay.
