This month’s BizLaunch entrepreneur, Delroy Bolton is of West Indies decent. From the time he was a young  boy,  Delroy enjoyed the artistic aspect of working with wood.  Throughout his school years it developed to the point that he knew working with wood was in his future. His first job after high school was in the furniture industry, something he loved. However, he was still young and did not yet realize the extent of his passion and the value of this unique gift.

Several years later Delroy migrated to the United States to be near his father in Gettysburg, PA where he could not find a job in the furniture making business, a field he still loved. Focused and confident that he could pursue his passion he enrolled in the Triangle Technical Institute where he earned his associate degree. After that training Delroy moved immediately to Palm Bay, a place he says “reminds him of his special Jamaican island.” He soon found gainful employment that had him commuting to work in Orlando and Tampa. There he was employed as an electrician on major projects at both Tampa and Orlando International Airports and helped with the building of the Incredible Hulk Rollercoaster at Universal Studios.

While working in that role, Delroy never gave up on his love of woodworking and one day discovered the Melbourne artist Lloyd Cheney Delroy  soon enrolled as a student under the instruction of Mr. Cheney where Delroy’s skills were evident to this master teacher immediately. As a result, Delroy’s love of woodworking grew, and he began creating beautiful vases and other pieces crafted beautifully from wood. This art became a constant endeavor on the side and he continued to hone his art work from his home in Palm Bay.

Delroy began attending BizLaunch in Palm Bay whenever possible to learn more about the marketing of products, selling, record keeping and other components for his business. He’s developed a website where his art can be reviewed. In addition to displaying in a Boca Art Gallery, his ultimate goal is to sell his fine pieces through other art galleries in Florida and beyond.

The company’s product line also includes paintings and mugs that feature the artist’s creative vision. Delroy’s work was displayed as part of The National Arts Program website and an award-winning piece was on display at the Orlando International Airport. His work has also been on display at the Brevard County Government Center as part of Brevard Cultural Alliance’s Art in Public Places program.
It was a proud moment, when recently, Delroy was honored by the Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Commission of the Space Coast for his products, manufactured here in Brevard County. He was honored among three other manufacturing companies for his impact to the economic vitality of Brevard County.

Congratulations to this special entrepreneur who has never given up on his passion! Visit the Bolton Art website and enjoy the fine products manufactured here on the Space Coast!
