PROFILE:  Carol Hupfer

After working in a steady job for ten years as a customer service representative, Carol Hupfer found herself amongst the laid off, unemployed workers. Although Carol did her job searches and applied for positions, she was not receiving job offers.

Carol heard of Biz Launch and thought she would check it out and see what it was about.  After attending several Biz Launch sessions, Carol picked up on the message of “Do what you love.  Love what you do.”  Although she is in her senior years, Carol decided that she was not ready to retire and needed to make additional income.  She took matters into her own hands.

After meeting with her entrepreneur coach at Brevard Workforce, Carol found that her passion is helping other people.  She would help people at her church with running errands and help the elderly, sick and busy professionals.  Carol conducted her market research to determine whether or not her business idea was viable.  She asked strangers that she would meet at the grocery store and other places what they thought and would they pay for such a service.  Carol then targeted where she would reach her customers.

After putting together her business model, Carol decided that she needed training on how to run a business and requested to participate in Brevard Workforce’s Entrepreneurial Work Experience.  She knew of a woman owned business that was willing to mentor her in this program.  She began her training with Quality Collision Repair in Rockledge and successfully completed the program.

Carol has since launched her business, “Call Carol” and has several regular customers.  “I even received a Christmas bonus this year from one of my customers!”  When asked what does Carol love about working her own business she states, “I love what I do and I love the freedom I have in what jobs I’m willing to accept.”  Carol accredits Brevard Workforce, Biz Launch and the staff for giving her the courage and knowledge to go forward.  Carol says “I encourage others who are looking at starting their own business to just Go For It!”
