L3Harris Coping with Coronavirus – Florida Today

Aerospace and defense technology powerhouse L3Harris Technologies Inc. is continuing to expand its Space Coast operations, as it fights through the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Melbourne-based company is one year into a blockbuster “merger of equals” worth $33.5 billion that brought together the former Harris Corp. and L3 Technologies Inc.

Local employment has risen to 7,600, up from the pre-merger figure of 7,100, making L3Harris Brevard County’s third-largest employer, behind only Brevard Public Schools and Health First.

About 50 of those 500 new local jobs are related to the move of employees from L3 Technologies’ former headquarters in New York to the combined company’s headquarters in Melbourne. The other 450 are related to local expansions in the company’s core business sectors.
