Career Centers Closed Until Future Notice
Precautionary Measures Taken In Wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak
BREVARD COUNTY Fl. – March 19, 2020 – Amid growing concerns regarding the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, CareerSource Brevard has announced that it will close all three of its career centers located in Titusville, Rockledge and Palm Bay, Florida effective Friday, March 20th.
Career Services Continue Virtually
Staff will continue to be available Monday through Thursday from 9:00am – 6:00pm, and Friday from 8:00am – 12:00pm to assist job seekers and businesses. Services will be offered virtually rather than in-person.
“Our main priority is the safety and well-being of both our customers and staff,” said Marci Murphy, President of CareerSource Brevard. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience during these unprecedented times.”
In order to serve the immediate needs of job seekers, employers and the general public, center staff will continue to work remotely by leveraging technology to conduct and/or reschedule appointments, send and receive documentation and facilitate outreach to Brevard County employers.
Anyone currently working with a career counselor and/or participating in employment-related programs such as veterans services, welfare transition, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) or youth services, are encouraged to call or email their assigned specialist.
Closing the offices to the public does not mean those displaced by COVID-19 cannot file for Reemployment Assistance (Unemployment Compensation Insurance). Florida’s Reemployment Assistance System is administered by the Department of Economic Opportunity and not CareerSource Brevard or members of the CareerSource Florida network.
“It’s important to understand that our staff cannot determine, or offer opinions on benefits or eligibility,” Murphy said. “We do provide information and links on our website and social media pages to help individuals who need to file claims.”
